About The Position

The Electrical Assembler performs electrical assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of generators, electric motors, and engine-generator systems. This position requires the ability to read technical documents, safely use tools and equipment, and collaborate with team members to meet production and quality standards. The electrical assembler position is a preparatory or entry level role that allows for the development of the required skills needed to become an electrician.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Must have some electrical experience and general knowledge of wiring including reading Diagrams, schematics, and the installation and repair of electrical components and AC and DC circuits.
  • Must have good technical problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Must know how to use multimeter, electronic test equipment, laptop, measurement devices, and hand tools.
  • Must be willing to work as a member of a team to produce the maximum number of generators daily.
  • The job requires stooping, bending, climbing, and the capability of lifting up to fifty pounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions.
  • Skills to perform mechanical assembly jobs using small hand tools.
  • Will be expected to make safety and safe working practices a priority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Power Generation would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Building/installing wiring harnesses, panel wiring, reading schematics, and working with electrical and electronic meters, test equipment, wire crimping presses, load banks, and other testing solutions to prove quality workmanship.
  • Working from electrical schematics, assembling electronic components to sub-panels, mounting components in enclosures, and installing electrical related equipment.
  • Assure fit of all electrical components, boxes, and enclosures by drilling, tapping, wiring, and assembling to provide a standardized design of production units.
  • Wires and labels, electrical sub-panels, and enclosures.
  • Mounts and interconnects components to equipment, per electrical schematics or drawings.
  • Evaluates components and equipment to verify correct operation, safety, operator use and ease of service.
  • Provides in-house support to all production personnel as needed.
  • Coordinates with Engineering to fit together parts and subassemblies to build complete generator sets, and interconnect with automatic transfer switches, remote annunciators, remote monitoring systems and other required customer equipment following electrical schematics and engineering specifications.
  • Secures assemblies, using correct hardware, torque values, proper tooling, or tightening sequences.
  • Plans standardized wire routing including spacing of tie-wraps, wire bending radius, protective wire wrap, exact wire lengths, proper terminal ends, correct crimping procedure and following all available Bill of Materials and work instructions.
  • Disassemble wiring or components as required after testing and examine parts for evidence of wear, chaffing or other improvement needed in routing or mounting.
  • Determines the best connection methods to fit or solder parts together while working to eliminate spliced or taped connections.
  • Assist and coordinate with R&D Assembler personnel on fabrication, assembly, design, and testing of complete units.
  • Performs tests on electrical assemblies during the process.
  • Works closely with Engineering personnel on schematics, drawings, and electrical component specifications.
  • Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers on development of work instructions.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
