About The Position

The Electrical Apprentice will assist a Licensed Electrician in the installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical systems. This role involves hands-on work at various project sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards and local electrical codes while contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of electrical installations.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • 3 years of field experience, trade school, or apprenticeship.
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction expectations.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Preparation of miscellaneous paperwork including time sheets, daily reports, and material requests.
  • Understanding of and strict adherence to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Appropriate state certification or license.
  • OSHA 10 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Regular attendance at assigned location, which may include A/Z office or other project sites.
  • Prepare sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment, or follow blueprints to ensure concealed wiring is installed before completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaws, pipe threaders, and conduit benders.
  • Oversee or participate in wire installation with conduit and cable trays.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening them in place with screws or bolts using hand and power tools.
  • Connect power cables to equipment, such as motors, and install grounding leads.
  • Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments like ohmmeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Observe the functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Perform other routine duties as directed by the workplace leader, including working on electrical panels and standby generation.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality standards, participate in site housekeeping, and interact with co-workers courteously.
