Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, the Electrical Apprentice learns to perform electrical installations in pursuit of becoming licensed as an Oregon Journey Electrician. Duties/Responsibilities: Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards. Follow all rules and standards set forth by the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI), Southern Oregon Utilities JATC #5007, and work location to maintain good standing. Work with journey electricians to learn: to perform electrical installations of machinery, electrical wiring, and fixtures; to maintain, repair, and modify electrical installations to ensure optimal operations; to follow electrical schematics and regulations; electrical theory and mathematics; and to use the materials and tools of the electrical trade. Write, update, and complete work orders and quick reports as needed. Perform additional duties as required by Maintenance Supervisor, Supervising Electrical Lead, and Journey Electricians. On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities. Position Requirements: Must meet position requirements to be considered a candidate for this position. Ability to meet the entrance requirements adopted by the Klamath Basin Industrial TATC and approved by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries' Oregon State Apprenticeship and Training Council. These requirements include possessing a high school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to provide own basic tools to perform routine electrical activities. Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties. Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening. Environmental Conditions: May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable weather and temperatures. Required Personal Protective Equipment: Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, a face shield, and a respirator.
