About the position

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Engineering & Reliability team based out of our Gaston, SC facility. The ideal candidate for the Electrical and Instrumentation Designer role, will be results driven, motivated by technical challenges and have excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principals for design, construction, operation and maintenance of industrial plant systems, including: Electrical Power and Instrumentation Systems.
  • Perform all aspects of project engineering and design.
  • Use Bentley MicroStation to create and modify drawings, including: Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Elementary Diagrams, Power Plans and Single Line Diagrams.
  • Select and size electrical power, control & instrumentation components.
  • Prepare specifications for procurement and construction, including: Equipment Specifications, Bills of Material, Data Sheets, etc.
  • Provide Project Control Tools, including: Scopes of Work, Detailed Labor & Material Cost Estimates, Construction & Engineering Schedules, Change Orders, Construction Progress Assessments.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision on unusual and complex problems.
  • Perform field walk-downs to ascertain as-installed conditions and prepare as-built drawings.
  • Interface with vendors to stay current on respective technology.

Requirements

  • Good safety practices.
  • Good communication, listening, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Associates Degree OR 10 years' experience as electrical/instrumentation designer.
  • Knowledge or experience in construction, engineering or facilities management.
  • Experience in low voltage electrical design (up to 1000 VAC).
  • Must be able to quickly develop proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Bentley MicroStation and tsaADVET (Falcon). Self-directed, independent learning will be required.
  • Occasional overtime, weekend work and travel required.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70) and the National Electric Safety Code.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor Degree.
  • Experience with multiple discipline projects, DeviceNet and Delta V Distributed Control Systems.
