About The Position

The Reworld SEMASS Facility processes 3,200 tons per day of municipal solid waste, generating up to 75 megawatts of renewable energy that is sold to ISO New England. The facility’s shred and burn combustion system incorporates Riley Stoker technology and features three 1100-ton-per-day water-wall furnaces. The two condensing turbines utilize two air-cooled condensers. The facility is equipped with advanced ferrous and non-ferrous collection systems, which recover and recycle approximately 35,000 tons of metals annually. We seek a dedicated Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical Technician who will safely work as part of a team to maintain, diagnose, install, and repair all types of power plant & fuel processing equipment. Must be able to communicate well with groups or individuals to solve problems. The candidate must be a self-starter who can prioritize work based on plant production requirements. They must work independently with minimal assistance and understand and follow all safety procedures relating to the plant and electrical equipment. This individual will participate in daily preventative, scheduled, and corrective maintenance activities safely, effectively, and in a timely manner as needed in an electrical generation facility. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, inspection, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electrical equipment, as well as plant analog and digital control circuits and instrumentation. This Thermomechanical Treatment Facility (TTF) features equipment ranging from 110V to 115KV, with in-plant distribution at 4160V, and most facility equipment operates at 480V. Facility equipment includes, but is not limited to: hydraulics, fans, pumps, conveyors, shredders, and low-voltage systems. This individual will be responsible for daily maintenance and preventative maintenance of the Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEMs) and Continuous Opacity Monitoring (COMs) systems. Will terminate electric motors 4160V and lower. Install conduits and wiring for new installations, and repairs to existing equipment are required. Performing preventative maintenance on all plant electrical equipment is essential, and documenting the work to be completed and the work accomplished is crucial. This individual will be responsible for reading and utilizing PLC ladder logic. Reading, interpreting, and utilizing equipment manuals for technical clarification, as well as requisitioning parts and materials, is required. The employee will be required to use the computer-based Maintenance Management Program (ALM) to access work orders for both corrective and preventive.

Requirements

  • To be considered for this position, the individual should have at least three years of industrial plant experience repairing and maintaining high voltage electrical equipment and electronic instrumentation/control systems, and hold a High School diploma and a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have an electrical journeyman’s license or solid technical experience, and have, or quickly obtain MA 1C/2C/3A Hoisting licenses.
  • Basic understanding of power plant fundamentals to include boiler and turbine operation, ash handling equipment, and pollution control equipment
  • PLCs (Allen Bradley RSVIEW, RSLIGIX 5000, Control Logix, Omron)
  • Foxboro I/A DCS control system
  • VFDs 4160/480V

  • Control valves, damper drives and process control transmitters, electronic and pneumatic controls calibration and maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Effectively complete preventive maintenance tasks per maintenance schedule to prevent breakdowns of equipment and operational downtime.
  • Must be able to effectively respond to changing plant priorities when directed by your supervisor.
  • Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages collaborating with various teams and stakeholders
  • Prioritize work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools, and utility systems to minimize production downtime and complete all required paperwork and documentation in the company’s computerized maintenance documentation program
  • Utilize defined maintenance documentation program to open and close out work orders, check out spare parts, and other activities as required in the plant.
  • Repair and/or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary
  • Observe and evaluate the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions utilizing mechanical devices
  • Review maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.
  • Maintains work areas in a safe, clean and orderly manner, and performs post job cleanup.
  • Perform duties as directed by your supervisor in support of maintenance and operational departments to meet business needs.
