About The Position

Kanto Corporation is seeking an experienced Electrical and Controls Engineer for our high purity chemical manufacturing facility. The Electrical and Controls Engineer is a key position for providing expertise, leadership, and project management with respect to the site automation and control systems. In this role, you are the facility expert for all the automation and controls systems – ensuring you are working properly, reliably, and efficiently while adhering to Kanto’s Operating Priorities of Safety, Quality, and Productivity. This includes automation and controls for general building, life safety, production, and facility systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science, in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in a fast-paced industrial/manufacturing environment, related to semiconductors preferred.
  • Experience with ultrapure water and high purity chemical systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify automation and controls improvement projects, develop strategies to address them, and close them in a decisive fashion.
  • Excellent time and project management skills, tested in a fast-paced, data driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to communicate general as well as technical information across multiple levels and functions of an organization.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, and results oriented.
  • Enjoys managing challenges, fixing problems through structured problem solving, and driving improvements in a complex business environment.
  • Owns their process and specific assigned projects. Operates with a sense of urgency and focus.
  • Experience working with PLC programs and controls systems, Mitsubishi preferred – includes making modifications to the code, navigating the program, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides hands-on technical expertise, leadership, support, and project management for the automation and controls systems in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Leads and completes automation and controls related projects to improve safety, quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Specifies, installs, and qualifies automation and controls equipment for new initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Implements systems to automate and assist in process monitoring.
  • Troubleshoots automation and controls failures, working closely with PLC programmers, maintenance, production, and production technical.
  • Leads, participates, and assists in root cause analysis of controls systems failures using structured problem-solving methods (e.g. 8D or Failure Mode & Effect Analysis FMEA) to identify and resolve problems through recommendations, improvements, and implementation of robust corrective actions.
  • Works cross-functionally and at multiple levels across the organization.
  • Trains others, writes procedures and other appropriate documentation (e.g. SOOs & schematics) with respect to automation and controls.
  • Interacts with vendors, contractors, customers, and service providers exercising effective communication.
  • Some travel (< 5%), as needed, to other Kanto sites and to automation and controls equipment vendors.
  • Requires work in a clean room environment and around chemicals for semiconductor etching and cleaning.
