About The Position

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for a position in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and the potential to establish a research program that involves both undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include both introductory and advanced courses, as well as assisting in curriculum development. The applicant will be expected to advise students; serve on department, college, and university committees; and engage in professional activities. Applicants whose work supports the university's Learn by Doing philosophy and demonstrates commitment to both the highest standards of professional ethics and to inclusion and equity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university by the date of appointment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the IEEE code of ethics.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to teach a broad range of courses in Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated potential for developing innovative lecture and laboratory curricula.
  • Teaching experience in an ABET accredited Electrical Engineering program.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide hands-on educational experiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting the academic mission through university service work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to an active research agenda.
  • Relevant professional engineering work experience, including industrial experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an applied research program, including experience with contracts and grants for applied research projects, preferably as a PI or co-PI.
  • Demonstrated potential to establish industrial collaborations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Preference for candidates specializing in Control/Robotics, Power Engineering, Analog and Digital Electronics, High-Frequency Electronics, Communications, and Signals and Systems.
