About The Position

The Electric Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the engineering and construction projects related to electric systems. This role involves managing personnel, developing performance expectations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The manager will also be involved in budget preparation, project planning, and providing technical support to various departments. The position requires a strong background in electrical engineering and project management, along with supervisory experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer License preferred.
  • 5 - 8 years of electrical engineering and project management experience.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of NESC and NEC.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Electric utility and RUS experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Navajo/English.
  • Valid Driver's License required (subject to motor record review).

Responsibilities

  • Improves staff effectiveness by performing coaching, counseling, recommending training and corrective action for employees.
  • Oversees the supervision of personnel, including work allocation, time approval, hiring, training, orientation, and problem resolution.
  • Develops measurable performance expectations for assigned staff according to department goals and objectives.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, initiating plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Assigns staff daily duties and evaluates performance of workers.
  • Prepares special reports in response to internal and external requests.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing and administering annual budget.
  • Establishes and updates electrical construction standards for transmission and distribution systems.
  • Prepares and oversees Construction Work Plans, Power Requirement Study, System Loss Study, and Long Range Plan.
  • Performs computer analysis of system operating characteristics.
  • Develops and reviews load data, load duration curves, and load projections.
  • Conducts, reviews, and approves protective device coordination studies.
  • Directs, prepares, and reviews engineering calculations for protective devices.
  • Develops and oversees annual capital budgets for construction plans.
  • Analyzes loss evaluation factors for electrical equipment.
  • Reviews designs and cost estimates, monitors costs, and ensures compliance.
  • Manages major transmission system and substation engineering and construction projects.
  • Conducts field inspections of existing electrical systems and new construction.
  • Reviews data and provides recommendations regarding joint use facilities.
  • Provides and recommends training to employees in the operation and maintenance of electric systems.
  • Represents NTUA in meetings with customers, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
