About The Position

The Electric Power Technical Training Instructor at Yancey Bros. Co. is responsible for developing and conducting training programs for employees and customers on the repair, installation, maintenance, and operation of Electric Power equipment. This role involves both classroom instruction and hands-on training in shop settings, focusing on safety and technical skills to support the company's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Technician or above (equivalent to Yancey Bros Co Career Development Program).
  • 5 years of industry-related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in at least 2 of the following: Engines, Electronics, Electric Power Generation, and On-Highway Truck.
  • Skilled in computer applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Acrobat.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with participants and management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in various forms.

Nice To Haves

  • Caterpillar Certified Instructor status or the ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

  • Confers with management and staff to determine training objectives and technical needs.
  • Creates and implements training programs, including outlines, texts, handouts, tests, and laboratory exercises.
  • Lectures on safety, installation, programming, testing, maintenance, and repair of machinery and systems.
  • Demonstrates proper procedures for programming, testing, and repair.
  • Observes class participants and provides additional activities to ensure learning.
  • Administers written and practical exams to assess understanding and competency.
  • Creates performance reports to evaluate learning outcomes.
  • Facilitates instruction for up to 75% of available time.
  • Schedules and secures equipment and training materials for classes.
  • Leads work groups in shop settings to complete training boot camps for entry-level technicians.
  • Monitors the Career Development programs of technical employees.
  • Updates and develops training aids used in the classroom.
  • Deals with vendors as necessary.
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions to maintain competency in training.
  • Engages in required safety programs and promotes safe work practices.
