About The Position

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Technician in Manassas, Virginia. The EPG Field Service Technician is responsible for accurately diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing complex operational failures to electrical generator systems and related basic engine failures at customer sites.

Requirements

• Minimum three years' experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex issues in Electrical Power Generation (EPG)/electronics field.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to perform well under stressful situations.
• Self-directed and well organized with the ability to prioritize workload.
• Excellent driving record with the ability to obtain a CDL and/or DOT certification.
• Proficient in the use of technical software, databases, and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex operational failures to electrical generator systems.
• Performing heavy electrical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment.
• Conducting megger and vibration testing and genset alignment.
• Installing and commissioning gensets.
• Interacting professionally with customers and all levels of personnel within the organization.
• Promoting a positive customer experience.
