About The Position

The Electric CAD/GIS Specialist processes GPS data from the field, adds new electric data to the GIS, and edits existing data as needed to keep the system accurate and up to date. This position will also create and edit roadway construction plans, construction standards, and other CAD related tasks. The CAD/GIS Specialist works four 10-hour days: either Monday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in engineering, design, geography, or a related field
  • 3 years of full-time related experience and/or training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of data management experience
  • People and/or project management
  • Fluency with GIS and CAD applications
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
  • Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
  • Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings

Nice To Haves

  • Autodesk or ESRI software certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Post process GPS-derived data
  • Digitize underground cable and overhead distribution routes based on submitted plats and other resources
  • Update electric data layers of the GIS using preliminary design layouts
  • Prepare and process as-built design details for integration, classification, attribution, and validation in GIS layers
  • Perform various types of spatial and tabular queries to synchronize field values
  • Isolate and correct network errors in the GIS
  • Prepare drawings suitable for construction of electrical distribution equipment
  • Prepare or correct drawings and maps by referring to field notes, construction plans, etc.
  • Assist in field surveys for data acquisition using GPS equipment and/or other methods
