Washington County is seeking an Elections Division Manager for a critical leadership role in safeguarding democracy at the local level for our over 400,000 voters. This position oversees the administration of all federal, state, and local elections in Washington County, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance at every phase of the process. Requirements

  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in political science, business or public administration; or a related field providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Five (5) years of work experience in elections, public information/relations, or similar field
  • At least three (3) years of this experience must be performing in a supervisory role
  • Must have the ability to arrange for timely transportation in order to attend required appointments and meetings at off-site locations
  • Must pass a criminal background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of election administration in Washington County
  • Managing a skilled team responsible for candidate filings, voter registration, ballot and voters’ pamphlet preparation, and accurate reporting of election results
  • Ensure compliance with election laws, public records, and retention requirements while coordinating logistics for Primary, General and Special Elections
  • Develop strategies to maintain transparency and public trust
  • Provide expert guidance to the Director of Assessment and Taxation
  • Serve as acting director when needed
