About The Position

The Hotline Specialist position is part of our hotline team, which oversees the day-to-day functions of the 866-OUR-VOTE Hotline, as well as providing support to state-based contact centers. This position will work to support thousands of legal volunteers who respond to voter questions. The Election Protection Hotline Specialist works under the supervision of the Election Protection Senior Technical Hotline Specialist and Election Protection Infrastructure Manager. This job is directly related to elections and is fast paced, requires multi-tasking, and includes early morning, evening and weekend work. This position requires comfort with learning and using new technology and platforms. Candidates with previous campaign experience or previous Election Protection experience are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and communicate clearly in writing.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Candidates with electoral campaign experience are encouraged to apply. Position requires knowledge of voting and elections.
  • Comfort and experience learning new technical systems and tools.
  • Patience, flexibility, and detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with a team and be affable.
  • Experience working with minority communities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing volunteers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day functions of the Election Protection contact center that receives interactions from voters via the 866-OUR-VOTE hotline.
  • Manage the workflows of hundreds of legal volunteers (attorneys, paralegals, law students, and other legal professionals) to ensure that all callers receive the highest quality of assistance while collecting necessary data.
  • Assist with recruitment and retention of legal volunteers, ensuring that the Hotline is properly staffed at all times based on anticipated call volume.
  • Assist with updates to volunteer resources, including technical support guides, state-specific information, and training resources.
  • Assist volunteers with technical questions.
  • Develop and conduct training for volunteers.
  • Conduct research as needed, to supplement legal resources to address caller questions and to align Hotline operations with call center best practices.
  • Monitor interactions documented in the Election Protection database system to ensure quality control of information and detect systemic issues.
  • Create quantitative and qualitative daily reports summarizing call data to help identify trends and inform Election Protection coalition activities and messaging.
  • Assist with after-action reports and data capture.
