A Marine Electrician is responsible for the layout, installation and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, electronic equipment, as well as the ships power. The role will perform burning processes and tack/weld job tasking as it relates to installation of electrical equipment and attachments utilizing hand and power tools along with blue prints, drawings and schematics. A Marine Electrician will be required to work either day or night (various shifts) dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Shipyard production areas involve working at different heights, confined spaces, and all weather conditions. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations.
