About The Position
At the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County (Legal Aid SMC), we are dedicated to using the law to ensure that the social safety net works effectively for everyone. Our mission involves representing clients as they navigate complex legal systems, empowering individuals to advocate for themselves, and working towards systemic change through policy advocacy. We are currently seeking a dedicated public interest lawyer to join our Senior Advocates team, focusing on the protection of the rights of older adults and individuals with disabilities. As a staff attorney, your role will involve assisting older adults who are experiencing abuse, supporting clients facing denials of Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and representing individuals during their CARE Court hearings. We are looking for a motivated and organized attorney who is committed to advocating for a diverse, low-income client population. The ideal candidate will be able to prioritize multiple demands, execute tasks efficiently, and demonstrate excellent client relations. Collaboration within a team environment and a strong commitment to social justice are essential qualities for this position.
