About The Position

ElasticSearch Systems Engineer – TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph Xcelerate Solutions is seeking an ElasticSearch Systems Engineer SME to provide expert-level support within an Agile, DevSecOps environment for a large-scale enterprise ElasticSearch deployment. This role is responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Elastic environments across both cloud (AWS) and on-premise infrastructures. The SME will work closely with cross-functional engineering, architecture, and operations teams to ensure performance, scalability, and security of mission-critical systems. Security Clearance: Top Secret / SCI with Full Scope Polygraph Location: Bethesda, MD

Requirements

3+ years of hands-on experience in ElasticSearch administration , maintenance, and integration within operational enterprise environments.
Direct experience deploying and supporting ElasticSearch in commercial cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
Proven ability to work effectively in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
Strong understanding of cluster optimization , query tuning , and index management .
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Master’s degree with 15+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting customer enterprise systems with ElasticSearch integration.
Familiarity with customer system development policies and security standards.

Responsibilities

Maintain and administer ElasticSearch clusters across multiple availability zones in a cloud-based environment.
Ensure optimal performance, stability, and uptime of ElasticSearch clusters supporting enterprise applications.
Evaluate and enhance existing cluster configurations, including indexing, search, and query performance, security, and administration parameters.
Maintain infrastructure to preserve data integrity, redundancy, and performance across deployments.
Manage and perform cluster upgrades, ensuring compatibility with dependent applications and systems.
Design, deploy, and customize clusters to meet various development, testing, and business requirements.
Optimize indexes for specific business needs, such as logging, enterprise search, and analytics.
Troubleshoot issues ranging from unassigned shards and node/cluster failures to automation and scaling problems.
Collaborate closely with architecture, engineering, development, and operations teams to ensure seamless production scalability and stability.
Implement and enforce ElasticSearch security best practices to safeguard system data and access.
Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting for Elastic environments to ensure proactive issue detection.
Follow Elastic best practices and participate in continuous improvement of operational processes.
