About The Position

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In pursuit of this mission, we are looking to hire a ELA/Math Interventionist. We are seeking a highly motivated teacher with a math and reading endorsement or a ZG endorsement. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who excels in building relationships, is well-organized, and is committed to providing personalized academic support to students. The Interventionist will play a key role in helping students meet academic benchmarks.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Math and Reading endorsement or a ZG endorsement.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms, especially Edgenuity, or willingness to be trained.
  • Proven ability to tutor and support students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with diverse student populations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and student data systems.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and take initiative.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in academic intervention, credit recovery, or online/hybrid learning environments.
  • Background in tracking student attendance, academic metrics, and implementing data-driven interventions.
  • Experience working with high school students in a support or instructional role.
  • Prior involvement with test administration or coordination of standardized testing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support and tutoring to students.
  • Monitor attendance and coursework completion fora designated grade-level cohort, using data systems and online platforms.
  • Take and maintain attendance records based on student engagement and coursework progress.
  • Actively participate in weekly Student Progress Meetings to discuss student needs and plan targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, and administrators to implement individualized support strategies.
  • Leverage online systems such as Enginuity to track student progress and assist with virtual instruction.
  • Build positive relationships with students to foster academic motivation, consistency, and accountability.
  • Use Microsoft Excel and other data tracking tools to manage and report on student progress and intervention effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team focused on student achievement.
  • Function as a self-starter, capable of managing a flexible schedule and adapting support based on student needs.
  • Assist with the administration and coordination of both state and local testing, including preparation, proctoring, and follow-up tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with testing protocols and timelines, supporting accurate and efficient test implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
