About The Position

1. Adheres to all MGCCC policies and procedures. 2. Interprets assessment results to students. 3. Provides instruction in literacy; adult education; HSE test preparation; English language acquisition; family literacy; (Integrated) English literacy and civics education; workforce preparation; integrated education and training, including career pathways. 4. Develops individualized Student Success Plans. 5. Assists students with completing Student Success Plan Objectives. 6. Reviews Student Success Plan progress with students. 7. Revises Student Success plan assignments as student progresses. 8. Maintains up-to-date student records. 9. Supervises and monitors academic assistants. 10. Conforms to state adult education standards. 11. Collects and manages accurate data for program improvement and accountability. 12. Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic tests. 13. Reviews goals progress with students at appropriate intervals. 14. Provides a variety of learning opportunities to meet the needs of a variety of learning styles. 15. Conducts basic Internet, Keyboarding, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access), and computer utilization training as needed for student success. 16. Maintains effective working relationship with college personnel and community members. 17. Reviews and recommends for purchase of instructional materials and software. 18. Registers students in the MGCCC Banner system and maintain data needed for audits and accountability reports. 19. Becomes knowledgeable of the state data system and records daily attendance and updates as necessary. 20. Participates in required professional development activities in additional professional growth opportunities to support student achievement. 21. Participates in outreach activities of the program. 22. Maintains a professional attitude toward students. 23. Accepts flexible scheduling and work locations, as program needs change. 24. Attends Community Campus staff meetings and college wide meetings as directed. 25. Assists with college recruitment events when appropriate. 26. Performs all other duties assigned. Incumbent is responsible to the Director of Adult Education for facilitating assigned ELA classes, maintaining student records, developing individualized plans to assist students in achieving educational goals, work goals and training students in the use of Microsoft Office and other computer skills to achieve employment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS Degree and minimum of 5 years' experience in an English Language Acquisition classroom setting.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish and/or Vietnamese).
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Education or Foreign Language.
  • Experience teaching/assisting adults in an English Language Acquisition classroom setting.
  • Specialized software experience.
