About The Position

The Education Coordinator at El Pueblo History Museum plays a vital role in managing educational programs, community partnerships, and volunteer coordination. This position is responsible for creating and overseeing public and K-12 educational programs that reflect the history and cultures of Pueblo and Southern Colorado, ensuring that learning experiences are engaging and accessible to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in education, history, museum studies, or anthropology, or two years of experience in educational program development.
  • Experience working with children and teachers in diverse educational settings is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and public service experience.
  • Experience in working with volunteers.
  • Ability to initiate projects, set goals and priorities, and manage multiple projects independently.
  • Up-to-date awareness of local and national education standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with school and general audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developing educational programs for museums or similar institutions.
  • Familiarity with community engagement practices and outreach strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Museum Director in managing education programs and community partnerships.
  • Create public and K-12 programs that reflect the history, heritage, and cultures of Pueblo and Southern Colorado.
  • Oversee the promotion, programming, coordination, and evaluation of school and public guided tours.
  • Coordinate, plan, and promote lecture series and other adult learning programs.
  • Recruit instructors and implement hands-on learning programming and workshops.
  • Establish pedagogical goals and evaluate educational outcomes for all educational programming.
  • Ensure learning areas and necessary materials are prepared for tours, lectures, and workshops.
  • Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of in-person and virtual tours and educational programs.
  • Work with Collections and Curatorial Division to plan the use of collections materials for educational purposes.
  • Plan, budget, and supervise internship experiences for students of all ages.
  • Oversee education volunteers, including training, scheduling, and implementation of programming.
