About The Position

The Multilingual Learner (ML) Transitional Bilingual Educator- Resource Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to Multilingual Learners (MLs) to ensure their academic, linguistic success and social emotional learning. This role requires a highly qualified educator who is committed to implementing district goals, collaborating with classroom teachers, and building strong relationships with students and families. The ML Resource Teacher will utilize research-based best practices to support students in mastering grade-level content and developing English language proficiency in both a school classroom and resource room environment and provide support as needed in the target language.

Requirements

  • Professional Educator License with Bilingual Endorsement and English as a Second Language Endorsement
  • Licensed for Early Childhood
  • Fluency in target language

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that address the linguistic and academic needs of MLs, focusing on both content and language objectives.
  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction using research-based best practices for MLs, including sheltered instruction, content-based language instruction, and explicit language instruction.
  • Provide direct instruction to MLs in individual, small group and classroom settings, focusing on language development, literacy skills, and content area support.
  • Collect, analyze, and evaluate student language and content proficiency data from a variety of sources, including state assessments, district assessments, and classroom assessments.
  • Use assessment data to inform instruction, differentiate learning, and monitor student progress.
  • Administer assessments to MLs, including ACCESS.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and performance.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure the effective implementation of the district's ML program.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, provide updates, and address concerns.
  • Facilitate communication between families and school staff, including providing translation and interpretation services as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and community resources to support MLs and their families.
  • Develop a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social and emotional needs of MLs.
  • Teach, implement, and sustain a positive behavior intervention and support system (PBIS).
  • Encourage positive peer relationships and support the individual development of students' social and emotional skills.
  • Establish effective classroom management procedures for the use of materials, supplies, and technology.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
  • Use support services appropriately and effectively to meet student needs.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, families, staff, and the community.
  • Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, committees and other school activities.
  • Be a contributing and collaborative member of the school community, working effectively with staff, students, families, and administration.
  • Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in the teacher evaluation process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building or district administration.
  • Adhere to all district policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain professional competence through district-provided opportunities and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
