About The Position

Methodist Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking an EKG Technician PRN. This role involves performing EKG studies, rhythm strips, Cardiodynes, signal averages, holter monitor hook-up and scanning, stress testing, and transcription of EKGs according to established standards. The technician must demonstrate technical proficiency and have the ability to identify and classify cardiac rhythms independently. The position requires maintaining patient reports, scheduling non-invasive exams, and ensuring cleanliness and inventory of the lab.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an AMA medical assistant course or equivalent preferred.
• One-year experience in a hospital or medical office setting performing EKG procedures preferred.
• CPR Certification.
• Preference for candidates with a cardiovascular credential.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a certified monitor technician.
• Completion of BCD or advanced arrhythmia courses.

Responsibilities

• Perform EKG studies, rhythm strips, Cardiodynes, signal averages, holter monitor hook-up and scanning, stress testing, and transcription of EKGs.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency for EKGs, rhythm strips, and signal averages.
• Maintain all patient reports and ensure confidentiality.
• Schedule all Non-Invasive exams and provide necessary copies of schedules.
• Demonstrate good judgment in responding to STAT calls and prioritize STAT orders.
• Transport patients between the lab and other units and perform patient education.
• Maintain cleanliness and inventory of the lab and follow proper disinfection techniques.
• Adhere to safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
