About The Position

Where You’ll Work St. Luke's Health - Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, TX, is dedicated to enhancing your health and well-being. Our facility is a collaboration between St. Luke’s Health and a team of specialized physicians—focused on General and Interventional Cardiology, Sports Medicine, and Orthopedics, including Total Joint Replacement and Spine Care. Job Summary and Responsibilities As an EKG Tech, you will perform diagnostic electrocardiograms to assess cardiac function. Every day you will prepare patients, explain procedures, and accurately operate EKG machines to record heart activity, ensuring comfort and high-quality readings. Under the guidance of the Market Director of Respiratory & Cardiopulmonary Services, established departmental policies and procedures, and specific instructions, the EKG Tech I performs diagnostic EKG testing to assist medical staff in the diagnosis & treatment of patients. Collaborates with physician following interpretation and charges and edits as indicated. Maintains patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and effective communication with physicians, staff and patients. Provides patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED & Completion of an appro ved EKG Training Program & s uccessful completion of examination OR High School Diploma or GED & o ne (1) year direct EKG work experience & s uccessful completion of examination OR Three (3) years direct patient care experience echocardiography discipline required in lieu of certification
  • BLS certification (through an approved AHA program)
