This position performs non-invasive cardiac EKG diagnostic tests and edits EKG's. The incumbent also performs all duties of the “EKG Technician.” Essential functions include performing exams per department protocol, demonstrating EKG competency, and completing studies within accepted time limits without compromising patient care or quality. The role requires timely and accurate completion of orders and charge entry, maintaining proficiency with department equipment, performing routine maintenance, and reporting any functional variances. The EKG Editor schedules and prioritizes exams, notifies physicians of critical values, ensures proper patient identification, and provides patient education. A key responsibility is to confirm, pre-read, and edit all EKGs in the reading system under the correct patient name and MMI# with proper diagnosis, assisting the department and interpreting physicians in achieving a 24-hour turn-around time for EKG interpretation.
