About The Position
The CTE Skilled and Technical Sciences Teacher (Wood) is responsible for designing curriculum that meets established competencies regarding OSPI approved Skilled and Technical Sciences Curriculum Frameworks. The teacher will collaborate with the departmental team to update curriculum, career pathways, State Approved Equivalencies, and Industry Recognized Certificates (IRC's), while incorporating Work Based Learning activities in all classes. The position includes establishing an Advanced Core Plus Construction curriculum and creating a pipeline for students to gain on-the-job experience through internships with local industry partners. The teacher will provide guidance to students in all Skilled and Technical Pathways, potentially leading them to internship, mentorship, or apprenticeship opportunities in the community. Additionally, the teacher will lead the Skilled and Technical Sciences Advisory Committee and develop a four-year plan for the program, as well as provide leadership in the SkillsUSA Program. The role requires a focus on high expectations for student achievement, effective teaching practices, and fostering a safe, positive learning environment.
