About The Position

The Senior Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) Operations Analyst plays a crucial role in managing and verifying control area interchange processes. This position involves responding to transmission service requests, overseeing scheduled and actual interchange activities, and providing operational support for the Western Energy Imbalance Market. The analyst is expected to become fully qualified within 12 months and will work in a dynamic environment that requires effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited school and/or trade school certification, or two years of related work experience if not possessing an Associate degree or trade school certification.
  • 0 to 1 year of experience in electric operations.
  • Must obtain and maintain NERC certification status at the reliability coordinator or Balancing Interchange level.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving, resourcefulness, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete training to become fully qualified as a EIM Operations Analyst system operator within 12 months of starting the training program.
  • Perform transmission interchange pre-scheduling, real-time, and 'after-the-fact' functions including review of e-tags, hourly checkout, daily checkout, problem-solving and reconciliation of scheduled/actual interchange.
  • Administer OASIS, including responding to short-term requests for transmission service and creating/updating outage postings.
  • Maintain situational awareness and effective communications with the Company's Balancing Authority Operator and Transmission System Operator regarding system performance.
  • Provide support to the Energy Imbalance Market operations by analyzing information and providing hour-ahead and day-ahead support for EIM participation.
  • Provide interchange and intra-change schedules to the EIM.
  • Monitor transmission and resource contingencies in real-time, and update transmission interchange and EIM participation as per established criteria.
  • Maintain communications with the management team regarding operational performance of the Company's electric system and provide training to other employees on area of expertise.
  • Ensure all compliance aspects of the position are known and followed; understand and comply with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and company.
  • Perform related duties as requested or assigned.
