JOB SUMMARY The Senior Director – EHSS will report to the Chief Legal Officer (“CLO”) By aligning with leaders company-wide, this person will head the Company’s efforts to set and ensure compliance with laws, rules, regulations and internal policies and procedures regarding: occupational health and safety of employees; environmental compliance and sustainability efforts; and the security of employees and company property; as well as having co-responsibility with the CLO for recommending, maintaining and administering the company’s casualty and liability insurance programs and full responsibility for handling insurance claims.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (advanced degree preferred) and a minimum of 15 years EHS experience in a manufacturing setting (preferably food and beverage, though not required; alcohol beverage a plus) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading the EHSS function and other EHSS professionals.
  • Advanced working knowledge of applicable regulations and regulatory frameworks (OSHA, CalOSHA, EPA, CalEPA, DHS, etc…) with demonstrated success interpreting and applying regulations to manufacturing operations.
  • Self-starter with excellent project management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong aptitude for building and maintaining working relationships across a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders, including Company leadership and government regulators.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and mentoring EHSS professionals.
  • Successful track record of ensuring company compliance with EPA, DHS, FDA, ISO, ANSI and other regulatory/advisory/certification agencies’ regulations.
  • Expertise planning and managing projects, leading teams and driving efficient meetings.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience implementing effective and efficient site-specific security programs.
  • Highly skilled in the use of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications.
  • Must be able to fully comprehend, and implement requirements of laws, rules, regulations, government agency decisions/guidance and technical documents.
  • Ability to compose and present comprehensive, yet concise, reports and presentations.
  • Skilled in effectively communicating in oral and written form internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of safety, leading a team responsible for working with cross-functional leaders to develop, implement, evaluate, and improve execution of the company’s long-term EHSS strategy.
  • Oversee environmental reporting and permit applications to federal, state and local agencies.
  • Identify, develop and train others on policies and procedures regarding compliance with current (and future) federal, state and local EHSS laws, rules and regulations.
  • Support cross-functional leaders on, and stress the importance of, compliance with EHSS laws, rules, regulations and company-wide policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Assess company-wide EHSS performance and collaborate with leaders to help them drive continuous improvement and increase sustainability of company operations.
  • Lead EHSS team members and oversee their continuous professional development to align with the growth and development of TWG’s compliance and regulatory needs.
  • Work with the CLO to align all company-wide, casualty and liability insurance matters with TWG’s insurance broker and insurance companies; handle claims management and lead TWG’s worker’s compensation specialist.
  • Work with the corporate communications function to identify, generate, and share the value of TWG’s ESG programs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead TWG’s cross-functional response to requests related to ESG-related certifications and the management of ESG service providers.
  • Oversee the management of TWG’s program for the collection, interpretation, and reporting of climate metrics.
  • Lead the annual company-wide risk assessment and mitigation review, working with appropriate stakeholders to identify and calibrate risks and align with senior leadership on appropriate actions, if any, to address such risks.
  • Such other matters as the CLO requests from time to time.
