About The Position

Develops and implements strategic, proactive safety initiatives and oversees safety programs across all CSC locations with a focus on plant operations. Will ensure the health and wellbeing of all employees by identifying and mitigating potential risks, promoting safety awareness, and ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Leads efforts in aligning safety initiatives with organizational goals and continuously improving safety performance across the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in safety management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing safety programs across multiple sites in food production environments.
  • Experience with food safety regulations (GMP, HACCP).
  • Deep understanding of OSHA and MOSH safety regulations.
  • Ability to utilize systems such as Paycom, iWarehouse, etc.
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude with thorough understanding of machines and equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities and priorities to meet organizational goals.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of the job and responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a team and driving performance improvements.
  • Proven ability to lead safety initiatives that foster a culture of safety across the plant.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to influence and drive safety culture change.
  • Exceptional knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment, incident investigation, and compliance management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and develop actionable strategies.
  • Extremely well-developed verbal/written interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present complex safety data and concepts to executive leadership and front-line employees.
  • Ability to coordinate safety programs and activities within a team environment across multiple locations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with safety data analysis, KPI tracking, and reporting.
  • Must have flexibility and be available to support department needs on all shifts, as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ascend or descend stairs and walk at heights on platforms at least six feet or higher.
  • Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word.
  • Convey detailed instructions to others.
  • Able to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds such as machinery alarms.
  • Near and far visual acuity required.
  • Work in an environment that is noisy, dusty, and may contain spices with high heat intensity.
  • Must be able to read and write English.

  • Additional certifications (Certified Safety Professional [CSP], Associate Safety Professional [ASP], or OSHA 500/30 certifications) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the company’s safety vision, strategy, and goals across all CSC locations, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Drive a culture of safety at all levels of the organization, ensuring that safety is embedded into all aspects of operations, from senior leadership to frontline employees.
  • Collaborate with senior management to integrate safety performance goals into overall business objectives.
  • Work closely with department management and employees to ensure safety initiatives are understood and followed across all levels of the plant.
  • Work with Human Resources and lead efforts in training coordination for Powered Industrial Truck, Respiratory, PPE and other related safety trainings.
  • Manage employee access to equipment and PPE utilizing iWarehouse or other systems.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies to minimize risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote safe practices in the workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, MOSH regulations, EPA requirements, and other relevant federal, state, and local safety regulations across all CSC locations.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of safety protocols, including hazard analysis, risk assessments, and workplace safety audits.
  • Monitor safety improvement initiatives and track the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Develop and manage emergency preparedness and response plans, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid training.
  • Ensure plant-specific safety initiatives align with food safety regulations such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and FDA regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify potential hazards in the workplace and recommend corrective actions.
  • Plan, deliver, monitor, and maintain safety training programs for all employees, including hazard communication, emergency response, machine safety, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and other required training and annual department refreshers.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Utilize incident data and trends to identify areas of improvement, set action plans, and drive continuous safety performance improvements across the company.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Stay updated on industry safety trends and best practices, continuously improving safety programs and procedures.
  • Analyze and provide regular reports to the executive leadership team on safety KPIs, trends, incidents, and risk management activities and propose action plans to improve overall safety performance.
  • Foster a safety-first culture across all departments by actively promoting safety initiatives and ensuring employees are knowledgeable about best practices.
  • Measure and improve employee engagement in safety programs.
  • Foster open communication between safety teams, plant managers, and employees to ensure safety concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Act as Company Safety Coordinator, lead Safety Committee, conduct regular meetings, and provide consistent communications to all staff.
