What this job involves: As an EH&S Technician, you'll play a vital role in creating and maintaining safe, compliant work environments that enable our client's operations to thrive. Working alongside JLL's Facilities Management team, you'll be the hands-on safety professional who ensures equipment, processes, and maintenance activities meet rigorous federal, state, and client standards. This position combines technical expertise with practical problem-solving—from conducting safety risk assessments and managing chemical approvals to coordinating fire watch activities and supporting vendor compliance. You'll be instrumental in driving JLL's commitment to workplace safety excellence, supporting training programs on critical topics like Lockout/Tagout and confined space entry while maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA, and FDA. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in workplace safety while gaining diverse experience across facilities management, regulatory compliance, and client service delivery in a dynamic industrial or laboratory environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field; or scholastic equivalent with demonstrated professional EHS credentials
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on EHS experience with proven technical knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and codes
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in industrial or facilities management environments
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks including ISO, OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and ANSI standards with ability to apply them in practical workplace scenarios
  • High-level computer proficiency including Microsoft Office suite, email systems, and Excel for documentation, reporting, and data analysis
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to effectively present information to management groups and regulatory agencies
  • Proven capability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and priorities while maintaining attention to detail and compliance accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) knowledge and experience
  • Background in fire protection systems design, maintenance, and compliance
  • Experience developing and managing emergency response programs and safety committee structures
  • Familiarity with audit program development and execution in regulated environments
  • Previous experience supporting FDA-regulated facilities or pharmaceutical/biotechnology operations

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety support activities for maintenance and repair operations on plant equipment and buildings, ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations and client standards throughout all work activities
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections of safety equipment including safety showers, eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting across all facility buildings per state regulatory requirements
  • Manage chemical approval processes for all JLL vendors, evaluating chemicals entering the facility, overseeing internal storage and usage, and maintaining current MSDS/SDS documentation for complete chemical inventory
  • Support fire watch coordination, vendor maintenance oversight, and hazard identification through the JLL AIMS system, providing recommendations for corrective actions to eliminate workplace risks
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training programs on critical topics including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, electrical safety, confined space, scaffolding, and ladder safety to ensure maintenance team compliance
  • Monitor and track site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), proactively identifying potential compliance challenges and implementing corrective action plans
  • Participate in internal and external audits including JLL Good Catch/Near Miss Program reviews, safety risk assessments, regulatory compliance reviews, and equipment/process audits to maintain continuous improvement
