About The Position

The EHS Technician at Plant 22 oversees the Safety Focus Program and safety procedures, ensuring alignment with the Six Principles of Safety through proactive incident prevention, investigations, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement. This role involves driving and managing safety initiatives, leading meetings with employees, conducting incident investigations, and maintaining safety performance data. The technician will also provide updates to management, coach employees on safety practices, and promote a positive safety culture within the plant.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school education or its equivalent.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer literacy, including data entry and reporting.
  • Ability to make presentations in group settings.
  • Ability to direct the work of others.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with vendors and contractors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in safety management or environmental health and safety.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and manage the Safety Focus Program at Plant 22.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with hourly employees in Safety and Ergonomic Committees.
  • Conduct and document incident investigations with root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and track Check Engine compliance and follow-ups related to incidents.
  • Maintain accurate safety performance data inventory and recommend improvements.
  • Provide monthly updates to the EH&S Manager on safety-related program performance.
  • Deliver constructive feedback to Plant 22 Management on safety practices.
  • Communicate success stories and safety concerns with employees and management.
  • Coach employees on safe behaviors and compliance responsibilities.
  • Train new hires on the Safety Focus Program and compliance expectations.
  • Promote active employee participation in the Safety Focus Program.
  • Report weekly to the EH&S Manager on outstanding action items and compliance gaps.
  • Monitor and update Safety Focus boards and Check Engine boards.
  • Oversee the duties and development of the Safety and Ergonomic Committees.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings and training sessions for Safety and Ergonomics teams.
  • Perform and document monthly SPCC inspections.
  • Perform and document weekly Hazardous Waste Inspections.
  • Assist the EH&S Manager with compliance-driven initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental procedures and corporate safety requirements.
  • Model leadership and accountability in safety practices.
  • Encourage adherence to safety procedures and compliance standards.
  • Address unsafe conditions and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Communicate personnel or safety-related issues to the EH&S Manager.
  • Support a positive safety culture through teamwork and communication.
  • Work normally scheduled days and overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
