Position Purpose: To provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Head Start/Early Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. The Teacher will coordinate and implement curriculum designed to promote Head Start/Early Head Start School Readiness goals for children to facilitate transition into kindergarten . Must meet requirements per Federal Head Start Performance Standards and any local, state and/or agency policies and procedures. Minimum Requirements: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Early Head Start Teacher: Required: High School Diploma or GED and Infant/ Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. If CDA is not held at the time of hire, it must be obtained within 3 months of hire. Desired: Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Early Childhood Development (ECD). Transcripts are required to validate educational requirements. Infant/Toddler (ages 0-2) Classroom teaching experience is required, two years is preferred. Experience should include the ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse populations. Head Start Teacher: Required: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre K) or a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre K) or an Associate’s Degree or higher that includes coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education. Transcripts are required to validate educational requirements. Pre-school (ages 3-5) Classroom teaching experience is required, two years is preferred. Experience should include the ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse populations.
