Job Summary The Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Supervisor will provide managerial support and subject matter expertise to ensure appropriate EHS systems and resources are in place throughout Roush. The role will advise facility management on EHS matters, create EHS plans to ensure conformance with regulatory and company requirements and through education, training and a cooperative approach drive the understanding and implementation of the company EHS policies. This position is in Livonia, MI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (criminal justice exposure, occupational safety, environmental science or engineering or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental, health & safety experience managing EHS programs and solutions in a multi-facility environment.
  • Experience working in diverse manufacturing and distribution settings.
  • Experience managing multiple direct reports.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of EHS management systems and their implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate with all levels of the organization, government agencies and other outside entities
  • Strong substantive knowledge of regulations and guidance promulgated by federal and state OSHA, EHS management systems and workers’ compensation requirements.
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupation Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) 10 Certification, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) 40 Hours course certification, or International Organization for Standardization (ISO) training.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate specific EHS processes and procedures in support of company-wide initiatives and direction.
  • Assure competency and quality of facility level EHS resources, develop and mentor talent and promote knowledge transfer through teams, best practices, and continuous training.
  • Drive facility execution of tactical and strategic initiatives to eliminate hazards, reduce and eliminate risks and drive continuous EHS performance improvement.
  • Manage and direct EHS staff and oversee and manage EHS budget.
  • Oversee the safety training and education of employees and customers and ensure the scheduling, presentation and completion of required safety and environmental training programs and the maintenance of training records and documentation.
  • Provide specific solutions to ongoing EHS-related issues and participate in the investigation of significant EHS incidents to ensure timely and complete implementation of reports to work toward improvements for corrective actions.
  • Audit all facilities for EHS compliance and building safety, recommend corrective actions and opportunities for improvement to department managers, facilities, and corporate management. Support facilities testing and evaluations of workplace hazards and assist in the safety review, planning and setup requirements at location startups or change in use sites.
  • Provides consultative support internally to Human Resources (HR), Legal and operations personnel on workplace accidents, injuries, illnesses, and safety and act as a key channel for ensuring timely communication of significant facility activities and events.
