About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of safety and sustainability. This role partners with management and employees to identify risks, drive corrective actions, and foster environmental stewardship across the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in an EHS role, ideally in cosmetics manufacturing or FDA-regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and EHS compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to design and implement EHS programs and training.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; ability to create multimedia training materials.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to work on hard surfaces for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ESG reporting platforms (e.g., CDP, EcoVadis) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a safe work environment by enforcing EHS policies, company safety rules, cGMPs, SOPs, and regulatory standards.
  • Stay current on federal and state safety regulations; communicate updates and recommend necessary changes.
  • Maintain OSHA-required programs, records, and reports.
  • Develop and update safety policies, SOPs, and hazard-specific training matrices.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and review PPE usage for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Perform routine inspections, risk assessments, and lead incident investigations with root cause analysis.
  • Deliver or coordinate safety training programs.
  • Lead the Emergency Response Team and ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage environmental programs focused on sustainability, resource conservation, and waste reduction.
  • Develop pollution prevention and recycling initiatives.
  • Oversee hazardous waste storage, disposal, labeling, and documentation.
  • Implement stormwater discharge programs, including inspections and sampling.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records and collaborate with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Investigate workplace injuries and accidents; recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, ensuring timely reporting and communication with insurance carriers.
  • Coordinate return-to-work and light-duty programs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between employees, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and internal teams.
  • Track claims and assist in developing risk management strategies.
