Group 1’s Corporate Headquarters are located at 730 Town and Country, Suite 500 Houston, TX 77024. Group 1 seeks to hire a Specialist, Environmental, Health and Safety. The position reports to the Regional Manager, EHS. Position Overview The Safety Specialist plays a key role in strengthening Group 1 Automotive’s commitment to a world-class safety culture. Serving as an extension of our EHS leaders, this hands-on role provides essential field support across dealerships and collision centers—ensuring our teams have what they need to work safely every day. As a visible presence in our operations, the EHS Specialist helps drive consistency in safety practices, documentation, reporting, and onsite activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the field, building relationships, and making a direct impact on the wellbeing of our employees and customers. Your work helps ensure regulatory compliance and supports proactive, people-first behaviors across the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or Associate degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • 3+ years of field experience, preferably in safety, training, compliance, or operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with EHS or LMS systems a plus.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability implementing EHS programs independently across multiple sites
  • All applicants must pass pre-employment testing to include: background checks, MVR, and drug testing in order to qualify for employment

Responsibilities

  • Field-Level Support – Assist Regional EHS Managers with on-site audits, training, and safety campaigns. Partner with site personnel at assigned dealerships to support effective implementation of EHS programs
  • Recordkeeping – Maintain OSHA logs, incident records, training rosters, and audit tracking tools.
  • System Support – Enter and update safety data in reporting systems; assist with user management and troubleshooting.
  • Communication – Deliver safety newsletters, posters, and campaign materials across dealership teams, helping keep safety top-of-mind and promoting ongoing engagement.
  • Scheduling – Coordinate safety meetings, training sessions, and onboarding events across regions.
  • Incident Management – Assist in the incident investigation process. Ensure timely upload of incident reports, thorough documentation of investigations, and accurate filing of all required reports. Assist in the management of workers’ compensation cases.
  • General EHS Support – Assist Regional EHS Managers and the EHS team with EHS related tasks, coordination, and day-to-day support activities. Represent management in site level EHS meetings and facilitate collaboration between dealer team and EHS team.
