The EHS Specialist (S2) is an established individual contributor responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs at the site. This role works under moderate supervision to ensure compliance with regulatory and GE Appliances requirements while assisting in the execution of site EHS initiatives. The position requires working knowledge of EHS systems, the ability to interpret standard procedures, and contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required or 5 years of equivalent EHS experience in lieu of degree
  • Basic knowledge of environmental and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day EHS support to site operations to help meet compliance requirements and business needs.
  • Participate in the annual self-assessment of the GEA EHS Management System with assistance of Plant Leadership and Central EHS&S
  • Assist in identifying workplace hazards and support implementation of engineering and administrative controls to reduce risk.
  • Support execution of the site injury reduction and EHS risk management plans, including tracking actions and follow-ups.
  • Conduct and coordinate the delivery of site EHS training plan, ensuring timely completion of required training.
  • Conduct Environmental compliance air, water, and waste inspections, document reviews, labeling and assist with required reporting as this job handles the waste shipments, labeling inspections, stormwater inspections and is key for emergency response.
  • Work with guidance from the EHS Leaders from other sites to support contractor safety processes, LOTO assessments, and equipment reviews.
  • Respond to employee EHS concerns and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Participate in incident investigations, helping to identify causes and track corrective actions.
  • Use available tools (e.g., Gensuite) to enter data and assist in basic trend analysis.
  • Support a positive EHS culture by encouraging safe behaviors and open reporting.
  • Communicate EHS information clearly to employees and respond to questions with guidance from leadership as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with operations teams to help address safety concerns and support site initiatives.
  • Follow established EHS processes and procedures to support compliance and site performance.
  • Assist in integrating EHS practices into daily operations and lean processes.
  • Support implementation of standard work for high-risk processes such as LOTO, ergonomics, and contractor safety.
  • Participate in audits and help track corrective actions to completion.
