About The Position

This position will provide comprehensive safety coordination to Proterra’s Director Safety and Security other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety, lead safety training for our teammates, design effective methods of measuring standards in the facility and conduct safety inspections on a routine basis

Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience as an EHS Coordinator / Specialist in a manufacturing environment, equivalent relevant experience in a related field or executive administration.
Knowledge of legal repercussions of non-compliance and strong leadership skills.
Comfort in leveraging multiple software platforms to integrate solutions with existing business platforms.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proven track record of building and sustaining programs that require use of Microsoft and other technical software platforms.
Adept at conflict resolution and finding consensus in challenging situations.
Self-starter with the ability to adapt interpersonal styles and techniques to influence at all levels of the organization; Works well within a team environment and always exhibits command presence and professional demeanor.

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office; Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel and Forms required

Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
Hands-on position on the production floor as well as time spent in an office environment preparing documents and/or performing training.
Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.

Responsibilities

Facilitate site-specific health and safety management systems designed to reduce employee injuries and illnesses.
Manage Proterra’s training plan / matrix and own all document management to ensure compliance
Provides oversight and actively participates in the plant emergency response organization, by attending regularly scheduled meetings, preparing training, coordinating response drill and practice exercises.
Conducts EHS Gemba Walks, drives 5s compliance, supports all functional departments with safety improvement plans, open action items.
Serve as the single point of accountability for Proterra’s Incident Management System to include tracking and managing all open actions created by safety observations, near miss reports, and injuries.
Ensure that occupational illnesses and injuries are immediately reported, thoroughly investigated, and promptly addressed, consistent with established standards.
Recommends, develops, and implements improvements in policies, procedures, and equipment to prevent incidents and injuries.
Establish and maintain key EHS programs within the organization to include, but not limited to: Lockout / Tagout, Fall Protection, Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs), Arc Flash / High-Voltage, Cranes / Rigging, Ergonomics, PPE.
Provides support to the plants’ culture of continuous improvement.
Able to lead and participate in kaizen workshops to firmly insert EHS thinking in all new standards and new procedures developed as a result of continuous improvement.
If needed, provides 24-hour on-call response for medical and environmental emergencies.
Coordinates all facility emergency response and site evacuation programs, including the design and execution of annual drills and management communication.
Inspects facility processes to detect existing or potential environmental, safety and health hazards, determines corrective or preventive measures and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
Establish and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and policies in line with company, local and federal regulatory requirements.
Conduct risk assessments and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
Coordinate and perform safety training sessions for employees to promote EHS awareness.
Ensure performance measurement systems, performance evaluation systems, and utilization of Lessons Learned, and best practices are implemented
