Could you be the full-time onsite EHS Specialist in Newark, NJ, US (Newark Airport) we’re looking for? Your future role "Take on a new challenge and apply your comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and proactive teammates. You'll play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and sustainability of our fixed Guideway system. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (operations, maintenance, and engineering), assist in the effective implementation of the EHS program, and much more."

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health & Environmental Science, Management, or Engineering, or another related field.
  • 1 year of experience in safety management or other EHS components.
  • Experience in programs involving MS Office.
  • Incident and Accident Investigation experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical Safety and NFPA 70E knowledge preferred.
  • System Safety Program Plans / SMS / ISO 45001 knowledge preferred.
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis experience is preferred.
  • Root-Cause Analysis techniques knowledge preferred.
  • OSHA & EPA Regulations knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in active field audits and weekly face-to-face meetings with stakeholders, such as The Port Authority of NY and NJ.
  • Supporting the Project EHS Manager in achieving EHS objectives.
  • Assisting in performing EHS Risk Assessments and defining appropriate measures to control risks.
  • Preparing, implementing, and maintaining emergency plans in collaboration with the Project EHS Manager.
  • Coordinating and controlling activities with respect to EHS, particularly in areas involving interfaces with other contractors or operation areas.
  • Providing support and advice to project personnel to prevent injuries, environmental pollution, and damage to plant and equipment.
  • Advising project personnel on all aspects of EHS applicable to project activities.
  • Supporting the development, deployment, and maintenance of local EHS procedures and tools aligned with Alstom and international standards, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Ensuring compliance with project EHS plans, guidelines, and work instructions.
  • Informing, instructing, and training employees to carry out their work safely and in an environmentally friendly manner according to established methods.
