About The Position

Since 1965, Stoneridge has designed and manufactured advanced, award-winning technologies including driveline and transmission actuation systems, vision systems, emissions control systems, safety systems, and security and monitoring systems for vehicle OEMs in the commercial vehicle, automotive, off-highway and agricultural vehicle markets. The EHS Specialist supports activities to foster an environmental and safety-focused culture across Stoneridge. This individual collaborates closely with Operations, Focus Factory Leaders, Engineering, and the EHS Manager to implement Global EHS initiatives, address local EHS-related issues and improvement projects, and ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS related area including ergonomics, chemical or industrial engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Extensive knowledge of ergonomic guidelines
  • Extensive knowledge of local EHS regulatory requirements (OSHA Standards)
  • Experience or working knowledge of ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
  • Experience working with hazardous chemical materials, including handling, and disposing of hazardous waste.
  • Extensive experience on emergency preparation and response.
  • Proficient in safety behavior-based observations.
  • Experience delivering EHS training.
  • Practical experience with external audits and continuous improvement of the Environmental and Health and Safety Management Systems

Responsibilities

  • Drive all local EHS initiatives to achieve zero injuries in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Workers Comp Provider, and Finance to track key performance indicators to measure company’s EHS performance.
  • Drive transparency on EHS issues by updating the Incident Reporting Database, and coordinate resolution of safety incidents, near misses, and observations.
  • Assess compliance with applicable local, state, and federal EHS regulations such as OSHA requirements and EPA standards. Resolve any non-conformities.
  • Lead STOP (Safety Training Observation Program) for the site.
  • Lead the Design-In-EHS Process for the site. This process outlines the procedures, deliverables, and gate reviews for the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team during the development of new processes and new equipment.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the EHS management system by updating and developing EHS processes, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Coordinate local First Aid Response team, and emergency drills.
  • Assist with sampling of wastewater and obtaining applicable industrial water permits and certificates.
  • Implement practices for the reduction, safe handling, and proper disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Provide EHS related training on an as needed basis.
  • Proactively evaluate and monitor ergonomic improvements for existing processes and equipment.
