About The Position

Under limited supervision, provides leadership and direction for the development of EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulations and company policy. Develop and implement US Commercial/Sales EHS policies and programs. Conduct EHS assessments and provide guidance to Regional Leaders, Supervisors, and other functional teams. Develop and deliver EHS training programs to all levels of the US Commercial/Sales organization. Participate in and provide leadership on multifunctional teams to deliver EHS support and guidance. Work with numerous internal customers and external partners, as well as any priority initiatives identified by Global EHS. Interact with local, state/provincial, and federal level regulators.

Requirements

  • Detailed working knowledge of federal, state and local occupational safety industry regulations and guidelines (OSHA, EPA, L&I, other)
  • Strong document management skills and attention to details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving/trouble shooting skills
  • Strong auditing / assessment skills
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence all levels of employees
  • Proficiency in computer programs / software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Power Point, Vector EH&S and TuMeke
  • Must have the ability to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple priorities.
  • Ability to self-lead work tasks to completion.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment but also have the ability to work independently.
  • Must have strong employee training development and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility is key in this role as priorities change quickly. Must be able to move between tasks and projects on short notice and quickly change priorities based on customer and department needs, while meeting project deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to climb ladders to work platforms, climb stairs to other work areas. Lifting of moderately heavy items such as test equipment or materials.
  • Travel up to 30% annually

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for 0 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment related to EHS program management.
  • Preference for Worker Compensation experience
  • Experience in Safety Management Systems (VPP, OHSAS 18001, ANSI Z10) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain technical proficiency in key safety areas. Serve as Commercial/Sales resource for specific program areas. Deliver EHS training programs to all levels of the organization. Provide technical guidance on specific EHS issues to Managers, supervisors and other functional teams to ensure compliance.
  • Perform department/commercial/sales inspections of EHS procedures, equipment and programs to ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements and risk reduction management. Report on findings and work with Commercial/Sales management to develop action plans to address deficiencies. Support Commercial/Sales leadership and other staff to ensure action plans are implemented and necessary follow-up occurs.
  • Independently executes investigations and analyzes incidents to identify trends in EHS information. Assists Managers and supervisors to determine resolution and implement corrective and preventive actions. Uses various computer support systems (ex. Vector EH&S, SharePoint, PowerBI) to document data. Act as a liaison between the Commercial/Sales Team, Workers Compensation Carrier, and Health Services to manage workers compensation.
  • Assists with the development, implementation and monitoring of Safety Management System aspects and written program documentation. Conducts regular written program reviews and prepares updates. Performs regular internal audits, documents and reports findings, and follows up on non-conformances. Participate/lead verification and validation activities for Safety Management System aspects and safety regulatory compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the utilization of EHS program elements such as Safety Teams, Near Miss Program, Corrective and Preventive Action initiatives, work orders, QDR, Stage Gate and Pre-start up reviews for engineering projects, and other risk reduction programs. Leads EHS documentation Teams and prepares documents as necessary. Leads and/or participates in multifunctional improvement teams to provide EHS guidance and problem-solving. Interact with project managers to ensure EHS issues are identified early in the project design and development process and are evaluated and addressed.
  • Create and implement EHS training programs and informational materials as required to convey EHS policies and procedures for new hire orientation, on-going regulatory requirements and specialized training.
