About The Position

The EHS Specialist, Energy & Service is responsible for driving Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) process excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and reducing overall risk within Tesla's Commercial Service operations across North America. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to maintain high electrical safety standards and support continuous improvement in the deployment of energy storage systems and electric vehicle chargers.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in Environment, Health, and Safety in large-scale organizations.
  • Educational background in EHS, engineering, or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in the electric power generation, transmission, storage, or distribution industries.
  • Proficient in developing and implementing safety programs compliant with OSHA requirements.
  • Deep understanding of Electrical Standards (OSHA, NFPA 70-E, IEEE, NEC) and practical experience with energized equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting across various levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, problem-solving expertise, and the ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in training and educating employees in EHS initiatives.
  • Knowledge of lithium-ion battery storage.

Responsibilities

  • Foster partnerships and serve as a key advisor on EHS matters to Tesla Energy business leaders, associates, EHS members, and contractors.
  • Act as an Electrical Safety technical expert for legal compliance and risk management across all product deployment phases.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Tesla's Electrical Safety program for Utility and Commercial Operations and Maintenance.
  • Identify operational gaps and spearhead creative EHS solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.
  • Investigate EHS incidents, analyze root causes, and develop preventative actions with management and business teams.
  • Perform proactive, learning-focused field observations to ensure compliance with EHS goals and document findings.
  • Lead EHS meetings to communicate improvements, learnings, and performance metrics.
