EHS Program Manager (Field Based)

ERMWashington, DC
9d$90,000 - $126,493Remote

About The Position

ERM is hiring an EHS Program Manager, remotely based in the US, to help scale global EHS programs as our key client expands into new corporate office locations worldwide. This role will support all functions under EHS with a primary focus on global office expansion, regulatory alignment, program governance, and building the systems and technical infrastructure that enable a consistent, auditable, and scalable safety program. You will help shape how EHS operates at scale: translating local regulatory requirements into global standards, building repeatable launch playbooks for new sites, and developing the EHS technology stack (safety management system, data governance, workflows, and automation). You’ll also help modernize how EHS teams work by supporting internal tooling, AI-enabled workflows, and “agents” that accelerate research, documentation, risk assessments, reporting, and operational execution—within defined guardrails. This is a highly cross-functional role partnering closely with Workplace, Real Estate, Legal, HR, CorpSec, IT, and international site leads. The ideal candidate is equal parts program builder, systems thinker, and practical operator—someone who can build structure without slowing momentum. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) limited-term role with a duration of 1 year, renewable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in EHS program management, global operations, compliance, or safety systems in a multi-site environment (corporate/tech preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience scaling programs across multiple countries or regions, including translating local regulations into consistent global frameworks.
  • Strong systems mindset: comfortable designing workflows, governance models, and tooling infrastructure that support auditability and scale.
  • Experience implementing or administering EHS management systems or adjacent platforms (incidents, audits, actions, training, inspections, asset tracking, analytics).
  • Comfort working with technical partners to build automation and AI-enabled workflows; ability to define guardrails and ensure quality control.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and execution skills in fast-moving environments.
  • Ability to travel as needed (10–20%).

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS expansion readiness for new corporate office locations, ensuring safety requirements are identified early and integrated into launch plans.
  • Translate local regulatory requirements into standardized EHS controls, templates, and implementation plans aligned to ISO 45001 principles.
  • Build scalable compliance frameworks that support multi-country operations (e.g., workplace safety, emergency preparedness, ergonomics, incident reporting, and required postings/documentation).
  • Maintain a global requirements tracker and support regulatory intelligence processes to ensure ongoing alignment as sites evolve.
  • Help select, implement, and optimize the EHS safety management system (SMS) and supporting tools (training, inspections, incidents, corrective actions, audits, asset tracking, and dashboards).
  • Define data governance and program standards: taxonomy, role-based access, audit trails, record retention, metrics definitions, and reporting cadence.
  • Build repeatable workflows that connect EHS work to business processes (onboarding, vendor onboarding, site launch checklists, service tickets, and change management).
  • Own program documentation standards and ensure global materials remain current, consistent, and usable across regions.
  • Develop and manage AI-enabled workflows and internal “agents” to accelerate EHS execution (e.g., summarizing requirements, drafting site plans, generating training outlines, standardizing documentation, answering FAQs, creating inspection templates), with clear guardrails and human review.
  • Partner with IT/Security and Legal to ensure tooling aligns with governance, privacy, and information security requirements.
  • Create adoption plans, training, and change management so tools are used effectively by site leads and cross-functional partners.
  • Drive multi-workstream execution across global stakeholders; manage timelines, dependencies, risks, and decision points.
  • Create and maintain scalable playbooks for new sites (EHS minimum standards, readiness scoring, launch checklists, and post-launch verification).
  • Support EHS reporting and program reviews by producing dashboards, executive-ready summaries, and continuous improvement recommendations.
