About The Position

The EHS Parent Educator will play a crucial role in supporting low-income families with preschool children aged 3 to 5. This position involves home visiting and working collaboratively with parents to ensure successful educational outcomes for their children. The Parent Educator will utilize the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program models, or other appropriate curricula, to empower parents as their child's first and most important teacher. The role requires a strong commitment to engaging with families from diverse backgrounds and abilities, ensuring that all children receive the support they need to thrive in their early educational journey. In this position, the Parent Educator will be responsible for recruiting families in need of home-based early childhood services, particularly those from underserved populations. This includes determining eligibility based on program guidelines, enrolling children and families, and maintaining a waiting list for eligible children. The Parent Educator will also analyze enrollment data and address absenteeism by understanding the causes behind families' failure to participate in home visits or socialization events. Additionally, the role involves planning and facilitating parent orientations to the program, ensuring that families are well-informed and engaged in their children's education. The Parent Educator must be organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong time management skills to effectively meet the needs of clients and the program. They will be required to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and must be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and other software tools. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as the role may require occasional evening or weekend work to fulfill program responsibilities. The Parent Educator will also be expected to work sensitively and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all families involved in the program.
