About The Position

Gridworks is seeking a proactive and highly skilled EHS Manager to oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety programs on our BESS and PV construction projects. This leadership role ensures strict compliance with regulations, drives safety excellence, and supports our teams in delivering complex renewable energy projects safely and efficiently. Established in 2014, Gridworks is a leading EPC contractor for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, operating primarily across the Southwest and expanding into new regions. Gridworks has delivered nearly 2 GW of solar and battery energy storage projects and is committed to a safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial construction safety experience, including 2 years on utility-scale BESS and/or PV solar projects.
  • Required OSHA 510, First Aid/CPR/AED, NFPA 70E certifications.
  • Expert-level knowledge of OSHA standards, electrical safety (LOTO, grounding, arc flash), fall protection, confined spaces, excavation safety, and heavy equipment operation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of BESS technologies and associated hazards.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental compliance and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and enforce safety policies consistently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.
  • Valid US driver’s license and insurability per company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage site-specific EHS plans, procedures, and programs for BESS and PV projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA (29 CFR 1910, 1926), NFPA 70E, local codes, client requirements, and company policies.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and hazard assessments; identify unsafe conditions and mitigate risks.
  • Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Planning (PTP) meetings, and toolbox talks.
  • Address hazards specific to renewable energy sites: battery thermal runaway, arc flash, electrical shock, working at heights, heavy lifting, excavation, and mobile equipment safety.
  • Oversee incident investigations, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure timely reporting.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs and site orientations.
  • Maintain comprehensive EHS documentation, including permits, inspection records, training logs, and incident reports.
  • Review subcontractor EHS plans and performance to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Develop, implement, and test emergency response plans; coordinate with local emergency services.
  • Serve as primary EHS point of contact on site and foster open communication for safety concerns.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to safety and a proactive safety culture.
