About The Position

We are seeking a proactive, people‑centered Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to champion safety and environmental excellence at our highly automated hard-surface manufacturing plant in Ringgold, GA. This is a hands-on, floor-engaged role responsible for driving a culture where safety is fully integrated into daily operations—not just compliant, but genuinely lived. As the plant’s primary EHS resource, you will partner closely with Operations, Human Resources, and site leadership to reduce risk, build strong associate ownership, and ensure full compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and Shaw’s safety standards. Requirements

  • 4 year degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED and Environmental Health & Safety experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Agency reporting tools (CDX, GEOS, EIS, WebDMR, etc.).
  • Ability to use Power Point, MS Excel, word processing systems, e-mail, Google, and other software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs within a highly automated manufacturing facility, ensuring alignment with the Shaw Management System (SMS), corporate standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Build and sustain a strong, associate-driven safety culture by engaging floor associates in hazard identification, problem-solving, and continuous improvement, and by embedding safety into daily manufacturing operations.
  • Serve as the primary EHS resource for the plant, partnering with the Plant Manager, Human Resources, and operations leaders to ensure effective safety and environmental programs that support production and employee well-being.
  • Establish and execute site EHS goals, metrics, and action plans that reduce risk, improve performance, and support plant growth.
  • Lead internal EHS audits and assessments to verify compliance, identify gaps, and drive sustainable corrective actions across manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure effective EHS training programs are in place for manufacturing associates and leaders, meeting or exceeding OSHA, environmental, and company requirements, and reinforcing safe work practices on the production floor.
  • Lead incident investigations for injuries, near misses, environmental events, and process-related incidents, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and timely completion of corrective actions with associate involvement.
  • Analyze EHS performance data to identify trends and opportunities, and communicate clear, meaningful insights to plant leadership and floor associates.
  • Provide oversight of life safety, fire protection, and property risk management programs, including inspections, emergency response planning, and coordination with local authorities.
  • Manage site EHS management systems and tools (RMIS, SDS, chemical approval, and reporting processes), ensuring system effectiveness, data accuracy, and follow-through on corrective actions.
  • Lead environmental compliance activities for the manufacturing site, including permit management (air, water, waste), regulatory reporting, waste stream management, and agency interactions.
  • Proactively assess and mitigate EHS risks associated with new equipment, process changes, capital projects, and increased automation.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support injury management, return-to-work programs, and associate engagement related to safety initiatives.
  • Develop and support EHS team members and cross-functional associates, building plant-level capability and ownership for safety and environmental performance.
  • Communicate EHS expectations, performance, and improvement initiatives clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • This role requires a visible, hands-on EHS leader who spends time on the manufacturing floor and actively engages associates to build and sustain a strong, people-centered safety culture.
