About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee and enforce workplace safety across our food manufacturing facility at La Terra Fina. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, CA-OSHA, and other regulatory standards while fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement. The EHS Manager will partner closely with the Plant HR Manager, Operations, and Warehouse leadership to maintain safe, clean, compliant, and secure working conditions for all employees. This position blends technical safety expertise with cross-functional collaboration, supporting our commitment to employee well-being, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a food production facility is preferred. A commensurate amount of education and experience may substitute.
  • Must be able to work independently while applying safety, GMP and quality principles.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to provide instruction and direction, to explain how things work, the importance of procedures and to create cultural alignment.
  • Must be available to spend time on each shift every week.
  • Must be comfortable with computers to effectively capture relevant data, critical operational notes, etc. in systems.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
  • Must have great attention to detail, be reliable and proactive.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthening Compliance and Documentation Ensure systems, equipment, and procedures meet OSHA, CA-OSHA, ANSI, ISO standards. Maintain accurate safety documentation and prepare for audits.
  • Technical Safety Leadership Establish leadership accountability for hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety system design. Oversee implementation of safety programs, policies, and training to ensure regulatory compliance and a strong safety culture.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Risk Assessments Identify hazards, analyze risks, and document findings. Integrate risk assessment outcomes into site-wide safety programs and corrective action plans.
  • Develop and Implement Engineering Controls Design and install controls to eliminate or reduce hazards at the source. (e.g., automation, safety interlocks, noise reduction systems). Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse and Operations to ensure proper installation, verification, and monitoring of controls.
  • Enhance Safety Training and Awareness Develop and deliver technical safety training for supervisors and employees. Reinforce safe work practices and emergency response protocols.
  • Monitoring & Auditing Track adherence to safety policies and procedures. Report discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Conduct regular Safety inspections and participate in annual policy reviews. Lead corrective action planning based on audit results.
  • Safety Leadership and Engagement Facilitate plant safety meetings and promote continuous improvement. Encourage employee participation and recognize proactive behaviors.
  • Foster a Proactive Safety Culture Analyze incident trends and implement preventive strategies. Ensure transparent follow-up on reported concerns.
  • Improve Incident Investigation and Response Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend solutions. Communicate lessons learned and manage OSHA 300 logs.
  • Incident and Claim Management Collaborate with HR on Workers’ Compensation claims. Coordinate return-to-work programs.
  • Leverage Technology and Data Implement advanced safety technologies (wearables, analytics). Use data for trend analysis and KPI reporting.
  • Collaborate on Emergency Preparedness Design and test emergency systems and response plans. Conduct drills and ensure readiness.
  • Continuous Improvement Stay current on emerging technologies and regulatory updates. Review and update safety programs regularly based on audits and feedback.
