About The Position

Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. COTALAND is an amusement park with over 30 attractions and experiences, including first-of-their-kind roller coasters. The EHS Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs for COTALAND. This role provides comprehensive safety services and business partner support across all park departments, fostering a strong safety culture among team members, while ensuring a safe environment for guests. The EHS Manager also provides safety support for COTA’s major events as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of progressive EHS experience, in high-volume, guest-facing environments such as theme parks, hospitality, entertainment venues, sports facilities, or large-scale retail/food service operations.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Experience analyzing incident, injury, and workers' compensation data to identify trends and develop proactive safety strategies. Familiarity with modified duty and return-to-work programs.
  • Experience conducting facility safety inspections and audits and translating findings into measurable action plans.
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training for diverse workforces, including seasonal and hourly team members to sr. park leadership.
  • Experience managing contractor and vendor safety compliance programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to stand, sit, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, or attractions industry safety credentials (NAARSO, AIMS International, or IAAPA Safety Certification).
  • Experience with preopening safety program development for new facilities or major venue expansions.
  • Experience with EHS management software.
  • Experience managing safety during large-scale live events with multi-employer worksites.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Identify trends and root causes through safety inspections, audits, and incident data analysis. Present actionable, measurable improvement recommendations to park leadership. Provide partnership and guidance to integrate recommendations into daily operations and processes.
  • Partner to identify and maintain EHS-related job requirements and associated training programs for all levels of the organization.
  • Monitor workers' compensation claims data and partner with HR to reduce lost time and support team member recovery.
  • Oversee contractor and vendor safety compliance for all work performed on park property, including review of safety documentation, site-specific orientations, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Provide EHS support for COTA’s major events portfolio (Formula 1, MotoGP, concerts, festivals), as needed.
  • In partnership with COTA’S legal team, manage relationships with regulatory agencies, third-party inspectors, and insurance carriers.
  • Manage the EHS related budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
