About The Position

The EHS Manager at Congruex is responsible for overseeing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance within the Ohio Valley Excavating (OVE) team. This role involves ensuring adherence to safety regulations, conducting training, and promoting a culture of safety across the organization. The EHS Manager will have the authority to halt work in case of imminent danger and will coordinate HSE activities with clients and subcontractors to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years in an HSE manager position.
  • 2-3 years as an HSE trainer in the Industrial Construction industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in underground utility construction.
  • Professional knowledge of federal standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT) for Industrial Construction.
  • Ability to research safety and environmental regulations and their applications.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with individuals internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers including spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Ability to analyze problems and make independent judgments for corrective actions.
  • Ability to function in various industrial environments including heights and rough ground.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends with short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage a comprehensive HSE training and program compliance.
  • Promote and ensure safe work practices and conditions for OVE employees and subcontractors.
  • Support all HSE efforts for OVE and promote Congruex Safety culture.
  • Coordinate HSE activities with OVE customers.
  • Plan, direct, and conduct periodic HSE assessments of sites and offices.
  • Conduct annual HSE training including various safety certifications.
  • Ensure DOT compliance for drivers, trucks, and trailers.
  • Develop and provide additional safety training as needed.
  • Conduct HSE orientations for new employees.
  • Monitor subcontractors' compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Supervise incident investigations and ensure structured case management practices are followed.
  • Train and advise personnel on HSE regulations and assessments.
  • Complete and file timely HSE reports and ensure they are reviewed by leadership.
  • Facilitate Safety Committees and manage meeting notes and action items.
  • Issue regular reports displaying HSE performance and incident trends.
