You will be reporting to our EHS Director, based in Paris, and doted line to our VP Asset Management & Operation Business Unit (AM&O) based in the US. The role HSE Manager - Americas will be based primarily at Akuo’s Texas office or designated sites in Texas and will supervise EHS representatives in LATAM. To effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this role, regular travel will be required to both construction and operational sites across the region.

  • Contribute to development and maintenance of Akuo Energy EHS Management System in the Region in line with group directives to ensure compliance with all relevant local, state and federal legal guidelines, standards, laws as well as industry standards across all aspects for the Health, Safety and Environmental management.
  • Enforce policies to establish a culture focused on health and safety.
  • Establish and reinforce a culture of zero tolerance in the implementation and enforcement of health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and standards.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the local, state and federal legal guidelines, standards, laws as well as industry standards.
  • Provide the suitable support to regional management teams and Akuo energy organization in implementing Akuo Energy EHS Management System.
  • Support the full deployment of Akuo EHS strategy through the Region.
  • Ensure the coordination and communication of Akuo Energy EHS directives/instructions across the Region.
  • Define and monitor actions to improve EHS Performance in the Region and to reduce likelihood and severity of EHS events.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, ideally with Electrical Engineering background.
  • Prior experience of 4 to 6 years as Safety Manager and/or Safety Director in the construction or operations. Energy generation experience is mandatory.
  • Must possess a general understanding of the electric generation and/or transmission systems and plant operations.
  • Prior experience in maintaining and inspecting turbine components, blades, substation equipment, communication system is a plus.
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies.
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain same.
