About the position

Danfoss Power Solutions is currently hiring for our next EHS & Maintenance Manager to support activities at our Forest City, NC facility. This role is responsible for the overall health, safety, security, maintenance and facilities of the Forest City plant and reports directly to the Plant Director. The job summary is split into two parts with EHS including direction of EHS activities, accurate & complete EHS reporting, communication of national/local regulatory requirements, maintaining site permits/certifications, managing MESH & regulatory agency findings, completion of training for plant personnel, interfacing with public & governmental authorities, directing action during crisis & the overall safety culture for the site. The facilities/maintenance primary functions include directing maintenance activities, deployment / maintenance of EHS requirements or capital projects, improving & maintaining the site's preventative maintenance program & ordering / stocking spare critical parts to minimize production downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing approved safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that the local management system is compliant to agreed customer requirements, ISO 14001 and other requirements with the scope of certification.
  • Champion of safety awareness in the facility through education, training, program development, documentation and job specific support.
  • Conduct audits to detect existing or potential environmental, fire, safety, and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Facilitates the investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses and maintains proper documentation.
  • Manage up to 10 Maintenance Techs across three shifts and 1 EHS Tech.
  • Oversight of total productive maintenance program for over 100 machines.
  • Manage capital upgrades & projects pertaining to EHS/facility improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S from a four-year college or university; or a minimum of five years' experience in a global manufacturing environment and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Strong communication, presentation, training and facilitation, project management skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Lean and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Advanced skills using the Microsoft suite, including Excel, PowerPoint and Access databases.

Nice-to-haves

  • Process safety management experience desired.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze safety & health data.
  • Experience implementing or maintaining EH&S Management Systems, e.g. ISO 14001.
