A day in the life… As an EHS Intern , you will support the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team through hands-on involvement in safety programs, compliance activities, and data management. You will gain valuable exposure to workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance while contributing to a safe and efficient workplace environment. You will gain insight into both day-today corporate and manufacturing operations. This role will not make independent safety decisions or approve permits, PPE selections, or risk assessments. All work will be supervised by qualified EHS professionals.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety with a graduation between December 2026 and June 2028.
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to speak, read, and write English fluently, with or without an accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in the consumer packaged goods or manufacturing industry
  • Foundational knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety principals
  • Familiarity with Safety Management Systems and key regulatory areas such as: OSHA requirements Confined Space entry Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Hazard Communication (HazCom) and chemical safety Risk assessment methodologies Ergonomics

Responsibilities

  • Assist with task-based and PPE risk assessments
  • Support Confined Space safety programs, including maintaining inventories and assisting with documentation
  • Help maintain EHS records, databases, logs, and basic reports
  • Participate in routine EHS walkthroughs, observations, and program support activities as directed
  • Provide general administrative support for EHS initiatives and compliance tasks
  • Periodic travel to manufacturing plants in Abilene, KS, Iola, KS and Corsicana, TX
  • Participate in weekly check-ins with your manager
  • Attend professional development workshops and networking events
  • Deliver a final presentation showcasing your project outcomes and learnings
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure product quality and maintain compliance with food safety standards.
  • Complete and follow FSQA training and programs to comply with regulatory requirements, ensure consumer safety, and support the plant’s food safety and quality objectives.
  • Promptly report and take appropriate action on any observed or potential food safety hazards, process deviations, or non-conformities by notifying the designated plant supervisor, in accordance with your role and responsibilities.
  • Actively contributes to the continuous improvement of the company’s Food Safety Culture through engagement and actions aligned with your role.
