About The Position

As a member of the Environmental, Health and Safety team, you will be an active contributor to the Parsippany, NJ manufacturing location. In this role you will work together with the EHS Leader to integrate EHS programs into daily operations to assure regulatory compliance and achieve continuous performance improvement, while meeting EHS performance objectives. In partnership with cross-functional departments, work to develop programs and objectives to achieve these goals in alignment with business goals and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field and 2+ years' experience in EHS; OR High School diploma/GED and 6 years of EHS experience.
  • Eligibility Requirements: This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
  • Must be able to perform the following: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting.
  • Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc.
  • Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • Occasional need to reach and/or work above and below the shoulder.
  • Must be alert to equipment in the field.
  • Occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery.
  • Occasional need to walk on uneven ground.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA regulations – process safety management knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in writing standard operating procedures (SOP) in environmental health and safety.
  • Process safety management knowledge and experience.
  • Environmental, Health and Safety certifications preferred (CSP, CIH, CHMM etc.).
  • Experience with root cause methodology using 5-whys and/or 8D methodology.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator with strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, engineering and other leadership.
  • Problem solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Change management and employee engagement experience.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
